Pepsi Removal

Have you heard rumors that Pepsi is removing their high calorie sweetened drinks from schools? The rumors were confirmed a couple weeks ago when Pepsi made it official. But will battling the fight against childhood obesity cost the schools and taxpayers more money? Watch this news segment to find out.

After watching the clip, let me know your opinion about the removal of Pepsi Products by answering the poll question to the right. And if you're worried about losing weight because you drink too many Pepsi products, check out the widgets above the poll for healthy recipes and weight loss tips!

A little bit more about the Pepsi Removal....

As part of the "Pepsi Refresh" Project, The Pepsi Company announced that they were voluntarily adopting a new global policy to stop sales of full-sugar soft drinks to primary and secondary schools by 2012. The industry-leading policy establishes for the first time a consistent global approach to the sale of beverages to schools by a major beverage company.

Although the actual announement of the removal was voluntary, Pepsi was most likely urged by the World Heart Assocaiation. The President of this association had this to say of PepsiCo's choice:

"The World Heart Federation welcomes PepsiCo's announcement that it will launch a new policy on stopping the sale of sugary beverages to schools globally," commented Pekka Puska, President of the World Heart Federation. "The soft drinks industry has voluntarily removed full-calorie carbonated beverages from schools in certain countries. The World Heart Federation has been leading discussions with industry for such a policy at a global level and is pleased that PepsiCo is leading the way within the beverage industry."

PepsiCo will work with its bottlers, vending companies and third-party distributors -- in collaboration with parents, community leaders and schools officials around the world -- to offer low-calorie beverages for primary and secondary schools.

Package #1 Flower Center

I chose to do my first news package about the BYU-Idaho Flower Center. Don't know what it is? Well, watch this package and learn what one teacher has done to help students gain real life experience, while earning college credit.

I learned a lot while I filmed and edited this video. I've learned some things that I really need to work on and some things that I enjoyed. All in all, it was a fun assignment.

Meet Janice

Our first class assignment was to interview someone that we didn't really know in our class. I got to interview my new found friend Janice. We got to interview each other on camera and I had so much fun doing it. Also, realize that I'm still learning, so the edited, camera work, etc. is not professional! I guess that's what I'm doing in this class. I'm here to learn! So even though this isn't perfect, it helped break me in on what I need to know about camera's and editing. Enjoy!
